Frequently Asked Questions
1. ALARM INTERFACE
A custom made interface can be supplied that links the sound and lighting system
in the pool area to the buildings fire alarm system. Should the fire alarm be
activated, the sound system in the pool is turned off along with all of the
special effects lighting and white flood lights are illuminated. This focuses
the attention of the helpers on the emergency and removes the distraction of the
sensory environment.
2. PRESSURE PADS
What are fixed or
floating pressure Pads? They are rubber pads that are fitted near the edge of
the pool that use air pressure to activate lighting effects of your choice. Or
they are floating switches that allow you to activate the lighting effects, but
also allow you to only bring them into the pool when it is a benefit to a
particular client.
3. ADDITIONAL LIGHT and/or SOUND
Sometimes requests are made to extend the sensory environment outside the pool
area by providing colour changing lights and soft music in the entrance halls or
approaches to the pool. This can be easily done and can be controlled from the
same control system. The same system of sensory lighting and sound can also be
used in "dry" sensory rooms
and calming rooms with great effect and because of the absence of
water, significantly more interactive effects can be created.
4. WHY DO I NEED A "HAZE MACHINE" & WHAT IS IT?
A Haze machine is not absolutely necessary but a haze machine puts a fine mist of millions of water molecules into the air.
These molecules act as a projection screen for the lighting. Without haze you
would only see a light beam where it hits a surface. With haze the whole beam of
light is visible in 3D and gives the illusion of a solid beam of colour crossing
the pool. The fluid used in the machine is almost all distilled water with a
trace element of carbohydrate (food) to add a slight white appearance. It is
non-toxic and does not affect the PH balance of the pool. (Full safety data
report available). These machines give off only a fine haze that can be
virtually invisible to the eye and should not be confused with the smoke or fog
machines commonly used in night clubs and discos.
5. DOES THE POOL NEED TO BE "BLACKED OUT"
During sensory sessions with lighting it is necessary to "Black Out" the pool.
This can easily be done by installing simple black roller blinds to all windows,
skylights and glazed doors. When black out is not required these can simply be
rolled back to return the pool to normal daylight. (DO NOT use Vertical or
Venetian blinds or any other colour than black.) If you do not need a particular
window, then they can simply be painted out or fitted with a blackout film. We
can provide you with contacts for roller blind suppliers.
6. CAN I HAVE A SAY IN WHAT THE LIGHTING DOES?
Of course! Your installation will include at least 16 hours of professional
programming. During that time you can talk to the programmer and request any
particular lighting effects that you would like and he will try to include all
of your requests into the programming.
7. WOULD YOU PROGRAM CHANGES FOR US?
Yes. You can call Premier Solutions at any time and book a programmer (at extra
cost) to change the programs or add new ones as the need arises.
8. HOW MUCH DOES ALL THIS COST?
There is no fixed cost. Every pool is different and every budget is different.
We will talk frankly with you about how much you can afford and then design a
system around your needs and budget. Don't worry if you cannot afford everything
at once. These systems are designed so that additional sensory equipment can be
added at a later date without additional wiring or disruption of your use of the
pool.
